The World Research Travel Conference (WRTC) 2024 will be held from 3 to 7 November 2024 in Penang SPICE Convention Centre, Malaysia. The conference is Asia's first global research travel event and is jointly organised by the World Research Tourism Organisation (WRTO) and support by Malaysia Convention and Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB). The conference's theme, "Opportunities, Synergies and Sustainability of Research Travel," will focus on cross-cultural exchanges, sustainable development of the international research travel industry, and related topics. Our aim is to promote the training of international research travel talents, the development of research travel bases, innovation in curriculum systems, and the deep integration of international channels. We strive to provide insights that will support the prosperity and growth of global research travel.

The conference is expecting 2,000 delegates, and the conference will feature 1 keynote session and 6 forums. These activities include a special inspection travel research base, a professional one to one business matching for international travel research channels, a thematic theme forum, the awarding of international co-operation bases, a special reception for the Malaysian Gourmet Night, and Gala Dinner "Research Travel Night". These events will comprehensively highlight the endless possibilities of Malaysia as the "Malaysia Truly Asia" Research Travel opportunities are boundless.
Research Travel is regarded as an innovative way of learning and experiencing, which has the core responsibility of transferring knowledge, promoting cultural exchange and common progress. As an important part of the research travel industry, research travel is not only an effective way to realise the educational function and economic value, but also one of the important ways to promote the reform of basic education in various countries. In recent years, there has been a strong interest in research on study tourism around the orld. On our (WRTO) platform, we aim to bring together industry knowledge and practical experience from all over the world to study the future direction and new opportunities of research and study tourism and work together to create a more brilliant future.

2024 marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Malaysia and the 11th anniversary of the establishment of a comprehensive strategic partnership. The joint construction of the "Belt and Road" program will further highlight high-quality development, strengthen people-to-people and cultural exchanges through research travel, and enhance mutual understanding and interaction between the two peoples, especially the younger generation. This friendship will continue to carry forward the friendship that has been passed down for thousands of years, promote the relations between the two countries to achieve greater development in the next 50 years, and bring greater benefits to the people of the two countries.
The World Research Travel Conference 2024 is setting up the guest country for the first time, which is China. It is recommended that this conference to be listed as an important event for the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Malaysia.
The conference will promote Malaysia and China to continue to expand exchanges and cooperation in the fields of tourism, education, culture, youth, marine ecology, etc., and at the same time promote Southeast Asian countries, Malaysia, and China to establish an international research travel guest source sharing system to enhance high-quality development of the global tourism industry.
